Recycling and waste collection information

 
On green week the council will collect:
 
Kitchen caddies
 
Glass and cans
 
Paper and card

   

 What can be put in the bags?

Glass  

Clean bottles and jars with lids removed.

Broken glass, plate glass, mirrors, Pyrex.

Paper  

Newspaper, catalogues, magazines, Yellow Pages, junk mail, office paper,  white envelopes

Wallpaper, wrapping paper, tissues and brown envelopes

Cans  

Clean food and drink cans, aluminium foil

Cans  

Paint tins, oil cans

Cardboard

Small pieces of clean card e.g. cereal packets, sleeves for ready meals washing powder boxes.

Card or cardboard that has been contaminated with food waste

Glass and cans can be put together in the same bag. Paper and card can be put together in another bag. 

 

Collection Guide

  • Put your sacks out on the kerbside by 7am on your collection day
  • Wash out all bottles and jars and remove their tops 
  • Only include the items on the above list - including other items will result in your bag NOT being collected
  • Keep your paper and card separate from glass and cans
  • Large corrugated cardboard boxes should be flattened, bundled and tied (not taped) and put out next to the green bags.  
  • Don't worry about it getting wet
  • Make sure it is secure, especially on windy days

What if I need more bags?

Attach the "More bags please" label to your green sacks to request additional supplies. You can also request additional bags by phoning 01792 635600, email recycling@swansea.gov.uk or use the form on the council's website.
